Xbox 360 Interview: Todd Holmdahl (questions answered)

Xbox 360 Interview: Todd Holmdahl

At last month’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), both Microsoft and Sony finally unveiled to the world their next-generations machines, putting an end to all rumors, leaked specs, and other gossip that had been floating around for months. After the cards of both players were shown, the next-generation console war saw the beginning of a new fight; a trash talking battle. Who started it? Kazuo Hirai, President of Sony Computer Entertainment America, referred to Microsoft’s next generation console as the Xbox 1.5 and Ken Kutaragi, the so-called father of the PlayStation, went even further saying that the Xbox 360 was taking on the PlayStation 2 (not the PS3), amongst other claims.

We had the honor to grill (no pun intention here) Todd Holmdahl, Corporate Vice President of the Xbox Product Group at Microsoft, in order to discuss many aspects of the Xbox 360 hardware. We also asked Todd the questions you have thrown at us and throughout the interview you’ll learn many new aspects of the Xbox 360, its technical specs and features, that were previously unknown.

This answers allot of question I had actually asked Major Nelson personally over his blog. He was unable to answer them directly but hinted at a favorable answer. This is it, the 360 will support high definition video in VC1 (WMVHD) format, and a full range of component video (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i). Over 5 pages of info in this article to be sure to check it all out!!!!
