It appears as though someone either has gotten their hands on a few of Sony's unreleased Blu-Ray drives. There are 5 available with a buy it now price of $3875.00, bidding is open to the US only. The auction contains quite a bit of information about Blu-Ray technology. Below is some information taken from the auction.

"Included in this Auction
Sony "Blu-Ray" 27GB High Definition HD DVD Disc Recorder + Remote Control + Cable Accessories + Operation Manual (in Japanese) + One(1) blank "Blu-Ray" recordable disc. No additional parts or accessories are included in this auction.

Item will arrive in an unopened manufacturer box from Sony and is brand new. The recorder is not refurbished but includes firmware external to the United States. As a result, on-screen display text and included manual is in Japanese. Unit will operate in the United States and includes all necessary power connections so you can get started working with the new "Blu-Ray" technology the same day it arrives. "
