Halo 3 for Xbox 360 Launch: May 15th 2006?

According to the electronics retailer behemoth, Best Buy, Halo 3 will be released on May 15th, 2006. Of course this seems to be more of a best guess and not an official statement. At this point Microsoft has not confirmed a release date. Statements from Microsoft have put the launch somewhere around the time the PS3 will be released. Rumors have indicated that Halo 3 will debut with the Halo movie that is speculated to be released in 2007.

My best guess is that Microsoft will put Halo 3 up against the release of the Playstation 3. However, this may prove futile in the japanese marketplace. Japanese gamers have no love for first person shooters and have had mixed opinions about the Xbox 360. Reports indicate that the Tokyo Game Show did help garner Xbox 360 more support. It might be a bit fool-hearty for MS to put their flagship product in a position that it may fail.

UPDATE 9/24/05: EB Games is offering Halo 3 for pre-order as well. Same price $59.99 but they say it's shipping on 6/30/2006.

Update 9/25/05 GameStop has it as well. $59.99 ETA 6/1/06.

I heard that Bungie hasn't even announced their next project and everything not straight from them is nothing but rumors and speculation.

I heard that unless you read it from the front page of Bungie.net, it's nothing but speculation. Anyone remember how Halo 2.5 was supposed to ship on the xbox 360s hard drive?

well i first heard it would be march 2007 and i was getting realy hiped but now all my mates are saying november 2007!!!!!! which will not be good i cant wait 1 more year!!!!!

if it is lease in november it will be because that halo 1 and halo 2 were both release in that month just different years
