"Best Buy, the number one electronics retail chain in the U.S., said Thursday that all stores will open one hour early at 9 a.m. on Nov. 22 for the release of Microsoft's Xbox 360 console.
Best Buy will issue tickets to customers waiting in line to purchase an Xbox 360, with each store to have a minimum of ten units on launch day.
Brick and mortar locations will not offer pre-orders nor issue rain checks for the new console.
Best Buy's online division offered pre-orders to select Reward Zone customers and quickly sold out within an hour.
Rival retailer Circuit City will offer sales of the Xbox 360 starting tomorrow through its online division.
CompUSA also announced that the computer electronics chain will have Xbox 360 units to sell on launch day.
Toy chain Toys R Us was the only major retailer to offer Xbox 360 pre-orders at retail locations. The pre-orders quickly sold out, with some stores not receiving additional stock for walk-in customers on launch day.
Specialty retailers like GameStop will host midnight launch events at over 1,600 locations to sell the console at 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 22." [
