Software for the Nintendo Revolution will feature a code indicating the age rating from the following 3+, 7+, 12+, 16+ or 18+. Parents will be able to password lock the console to only be able to play games within certain boundaries, for example preventing their eleven year old playing games coded at 12+, 16+ and 18+.
"Even though most Nintendo games are appropriate for all ages and the game ratings are clearly displayed on the front of every game package, this added feature encourages parents to take responsibility for the games their children play," said Jim Merrick, Senior Marketing Director, Nintendo of EuropeThis seems par for the course for the new generation of consoles, the Xbox 360 features a similar system."
