"Canadians rang up sales between $21 million and $22 million of the Xbox 360 and its accompanying software and accessories last month - almost all of that coming in the week or so after the Nov. 22 launch, according to NPD Group Canada.
The launch supply was quickly snapped up, with 32,100 consoles sold in Canada in November and another 325,900 south of the border, NPD reports. The Canadian 360 sales mirror the launch numbers of other recent hardware releases, according to NPD. The Nintendo DS launch month - November 2004 - ended with sales of just over 28,000 units in Canada, while the PSP launch month sales last March were 31,500.
The 360, the first of the next-generation video game consoles, is available in two versions, retailing in Canada at $399.99 and $499.99.
On the software front, no Xbox 360 titles cracked the top 10 in Canada in November.
Star Wars Battlefront II topped the video game sales chart. The PlayStation 2 version of the Lucasarts Battlefront sequel was No. 1, followed by its Xbox cousin, according to NPD figures. THQ's WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 (PS2) was third, followed by Electronic Arts' made-in-Vancouver NHL 2006 (PS2) and Nintendo's Mario Party 7 for the GameCube." [
