Sanyo allies with Blu-ray Group - PS3
"The battle of the next-generation DVD format continues. Sanyo Electric has joined the Sony-lead Blu-ray Group to develop high-definition DVD discs, though the company has not strayed from Toshiba's HD-DVD camp.
Sanyo is said to have joined the Blu-ray Group in April, but also plans to have an HD-DVD player at retail later this year.
Sony and Toshiba are in a fight to create the de facto next-generation DVD standard. Sony will include Blu-ray technology in the next-generation console Playstation 3, and is betting on its inclusion to drive the format into more living rooms than HD-DVD."
