New Outrun Confirmed! Xbox 360 Offering Mooted!

"Sega Japan has filed a patent application with the US Patent Office for a new game entitled Outrun Coast 2 Coast.

Filed by Kabushiki Kaisha of SOJ, no details of the game were mentioned, even in abstract form, with the only information coming in the declaration that whatever it is falls into the “Video game software; computer game software” category. Well, duh…

Thus far, gossip points towards an arcade and Xbox 360 follow-up, though nothing has been confirmed at time of going to press. Further speculation claims a December launch date, tallying with the 360 chat. An enhanced version of Outrun 2 SP has also been widely mooted.

We were unable to contact Sega, though we will update this piece with comments from the Sonic firm as soon as we get them.

Update: Sega contacted us this afternoon to explain they had no comment on this news. "
