"After hearing Sony president Ken Kutaragi saying that the PlayStation 3 would be an expensive piece of living room furniture, it seems this is now the official unofficial line from the PS3 camp.
Nvidia's CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, told the boys at Beyond 3D: 'The [GeForce] 7800 [GTX] has now firmly exceeded the perceived $499 price barrier'.
He said that Nvidia needed to price the thing at a level that enthusiasts would pay for it. This, he said, is the way Nvidia thinks about pricing.
He added that Nvidia thinks about pricing in a similar way to how Sony thinks about the price of the Playstation 3.
This, he added, isn't about how much it costs, it's about the selling price and of course Nvidia has to make money given these marketing perambulators parameters.
We’re going to go out on a limb here and tell PlayStation kiddies to start counting their pennies in the hope they turn into many a pound"
