Resident Evil 5 to debut on PS3 and Xbox 360

Resident Evil 5 to debut on PS3 and Xbox 360

"Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 5 will debut on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Capcom has announced this week that Resident Evil 5 will be released simultaneiously on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The company wants to grow the Resident Evil series into a multi-platform franchise.

However, no one truly knows the launch date for the Sony PlayStation 3. Some reports indicate that will won't be until late 2006,
while other reports are saying 2007. Resident Evil 5 will arrive as a part of the second or third wave of PlayStation 3 titles, meaning that it won't likely see release until 2007 on both consoles.

Capcom's other next generation title, mass zombie disposal sim Dead Rising has seen a bit of a delay, and is now planned for release in the middle of 2006. Inafune explained that he could have released the game much earlier (a January date has appeared on release calendars), but wishes to take the extra time to ensure that the game is as polished as it can be. He also elaborated that Microsoft asked him to develop an Xbox 360 exlusive title for a Japanese audience, but Capcom declined, stating that their intention now is to make titles that are successful worldwide, regardless of the console on which they're based." This is a good thing. RE4 was such a great game, I wish all gamers got a chance to play it. If RE5 follows that forumla, it's criminal not to give it a try. I thought most of the previous RE games were so-so after the novelty of #1 wore off...but RE4 = the best game of 2005 easily.
