With the announcement of Samsung and Pioneer selling Blu-ray players between $1,000 to $1,800, it would seem more reasonable to purchase the Sony PlayStation 3 unit for $399.

We find it weird though, seeing that there is a regular price that's over $1,000 and getting a complete Blu-ray unit plus a video game console for only $399. Is there something that we missed?
About the two new Blu-ray players, Samsung BD-1000 and Pioneers BDP-HD1, are scheduled to be released in the spring. The cost of the two units is expected to be around $1000 and $1800 respectively.
