"Just before TGS 2005 opens, Japanese gaming mag Famitsu spills the beans on Kojima's latest.
It's not long until the world will get its first moving glimpse of Hideo Kojima's upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4. A trailer planned to be released exclusively at the Tokyo Game Show in Makuhari Messe, Chiba will show off the first look at the characters, story line and of course, the next generation of visuals for the PlayStation 3. But days before the show opened, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu popped up and scooped everyone. Showing a set of images from the game, it seems as though the cat has stealthily made its way out of the bag.
Stills from the trailer depicted an older looking combat veteran which might or might not be the latest incarnation of Solid Snake. It could even be a cloned Big Boss for all we know, but we'll have to wait a little longer to get the details. The setting for the game appears to be sometime in a futuristic setting. Mecha-style robots and heavy artillery crowd the streets, backing up Kojima's statement in the article that the game will indeed take place in some kind of epic warring environment.
Suffice it to say that we're not printing scanned images from the magazine here. We'll be sitting tight and waiting for the GameSpy editors to get some locked-down eyeball time with the epic trailer before our lengthy dissection will begin. It's safe to say at this point that after the excellent Snake Eater and the upcoming equally-sweet Subsistence, that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be one of the most-watched and eagerly anticipated titles in development for the PS3. Stay tuned for more as it comes in." [more]
