One of the first titles announced by newcomer Japanese publisher AQ Interactive at its product unveiling press conference earlier this week was Vampire's Rain, a horror-themed action-adventure being developed by Artoon (Blinx, Blue Dragon) and produced by Naoto Oshima (Sonic the Hedgehog). The latest issue of Famitsu has an update on the title, which is in development both for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The concept for Vampire's Rain is fear, Oshima reveals to the magazine. As we mentioned in our original story on the game, Oshima believes Vampires have, in recent years, gone from being scary to being cool. He hopes to return them to their original form, as strong, frightening creatures. He points out some characteristics of vampires: they're faster than humans, they cannot be defeated with ordinary weapons, and they cannot be discerned from other people. Vampire's Rain will allow players to experience this type of enemy.
As the setting for the game, Artoon has chosen Los Angeles, and with good reason. According to Oshima, Artoon went with an LA setting because it rains only a few times a year in the city. Rain is an important element in Vampire's Rain, as the game's vampires are weakened by the downpour. Players will want to go out on missions during the rain." [more
