The AV cable we demanded from Microsoft back during the previous generation has finally arrived. Our cries were heard in Redmond and with the new Xbox 360, a cable that outputs the console’s video signal in VGA format is, at last, a reality. Is the cable what we were asking for? How does it perform? Continue reading to find out.
Available at launch (and really hard to find – at least in our area), the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV cable is a first-party AV cable that has a DV-15S VGA connector, stereo audio cables, and a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound optical output similar to the one found on the Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable.
Why the need of a VGA cable you may ask? Well, aside from the fact that many HDTVs have VGA inputs, many of us are stuck to a computer monitor and having the possibility to attach a console to the same monitor that you use with your desktop computer is definitely a relief. Back in the previous generation, it was a great experience to play the Xbox on a widescreen LCD monitor and now that the Xbox 360 plays all games, even the backward compatible Xbox ones, in high resolution, a VGA cable is more than welcomed."
