Despite a sell-out status at retail, the Xbox 360 console may see sales a notch below its initial forecast.Goldman Sachs analyst Rick Sherlund said in a report issued at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that Microsoft may have sold only 1.3 million Xbox 360 units in the Dec. quarter based on preannouncements from GameStop, Electronics Arts, Activision.
Based on production estimates Sherlund believes that Microsoft will reach 3.3 million in sales by March.
"It appears to us that Microsoft may be producing at 600,000 to 800,000 units per month, likely adequate to meet our estimate of 2 million units for the March quarter," he said.
The combined estimate is a notch below the three million Xbox 360 units Microsoft predicted to sell in its first three months of release." [
