Ubisoft Speculates On PS3, Revolution Dates

"Could Sony's PlayStation 3 hit U.S. store shelves by this September and before then in Japan? Ubisoft's Yves Guillemot believes the timing would be right...

A recent BBC News article, which talks in general about the coming of next-generation gaming, near-photographic realism, and digital entertainment, gives us new insight into when the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Revolution might make their respective launches.

Although both Sony's and Nintendo's next-gen platforms are expected to hit the market this year, no clear timeframe has been set for either. Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot, however, gave the BBC an educated guess as to when he believes Sony and Nintendo may launch.

"We think September could be the right time for Sony in the US and November in Europe," he said. "Japan a bit earlier, say June or July."

Guillemot added that he thinks Nintendo will launch around the same time, but that Europe may be last to experience the Revolution. Unfortunately for European gamers, Nintendo's new system might not debut across the pond until 2007 if Guillemot is right." [link]
