Nintendo Revolution to launch in same quarter worldwide

Nintendo Revolution to launch in same quarter worldwide

"Nintendo plans to ship the company's next-generation console, code-named Revolution, in the same quarter to worldwide regions.

Jim Merrick, Director of Marketing of Nintendo Europe, said that the Revolution will launch worlwide within 14 weeks maximum.

"What we can guarantee is that Revolution will be sent in the same fourth month period anywhere in the world," Merrick told Spanish online publication Meristation.

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata recently said to the press that the Revolution would see a worldwide launch sometime after fiscal March 2006.

Merrick revealed a few more previously undisclosed facts about the Revolution.

Nintendo 64 games played on the new console may see better frame rates but no significant graphical improvements.

In addition, players will be able to access classic games from different regions, such as a person in Europe downloading Super Mario RPG on the U.S. server.

Multiplayer games on Revolution can be enjoyed with only one copy of the game, similar to game share titles on the Nintendo DS. When the system is shut off, the game assets will be deleted.

Merrick doesn't expect all Revolution games to use all the new options the system offers. However, multiplatform games may be enhanced with a classic controller shell that adopts the Revolution controller's motion functionality. For example, players could calculate the angle of a shot in a soccer game on Revolution.

Merrick concluded that no Revolution software would be shown in 2005." [link]
