"Welcome to IGN's annual Best of E3 Awards. Although there were over 1,000 titles shown at this year's E3, there were a few that stood head-and-shoulders above the rest. A few days after E3, we lock ourselves in a room and vote on what we think are the best games of the show. There's some arguing, some scratching, some biting and a whole lot of hugging, but eventually we end up with a list of quality titles that we're all happy to call the 'Best of E3.'

In case you're wondering about our criteria for the winners, with the exception of one category (namely 'Best Non-Playable Presentation'), the nominees for all of our categories have to be playable at the show. We want to know for sure that the titles we vote on are being manipulated in real-time, so although we do acknowledge some truly badass presentations with at least one award, the bulk of our awards are for real-time gameplay.
